Global Leader in Mobile Content Looks to Expand Success with Launch of New Community and Entertainment Applications in the US
Madrid/ Denver – 22nd of October, 2007 - Zed (formerly LaNetro Zed), the leading mobile content company worldwide in terms of revenue and geographical presence, announced plans to increase its focus in the United States by introducing a portfolio of entertainment and community products and services for the Web and mobile markets. In order to replicate its global success in the US, Zed will join the operations of Zed USA with 9 Squared, which was acquired via the acquisition of the MonsterMob Group PLC in February 2007. The combined entity will launch a number of new Zed-branded community and entertainment applications that are currently experiencing tremendous success outside the US.
Brian Casazza, co-founder and CEO of 9 Squared, the leading independent distributor of mobile content in the US, will lead the new Zed operations as CEO of Zed USA.
Zed USA will leverage 9 Squared’s core business competencies to introduce Zed’s new line of interactive community and multi-player game applications. The introduction of Zed’s new consumer products not only takes advantage of 3G wireless network and handset capabilities, but it leverages Web 2.0 interoperability to produce an integrated Web and mobile experience. Individual Zed product announcements for the US market are forthcoming.
“US consumers are looking for products that allow them to balance their connected online and mobile lifestyles,” says Brian Casazza. “Zed’s products are not only fun and entertaining, but they enable a consumer to access them from the Web and mobile – thereby allowing the user to always be connected to their community and interact passionately with other peers. We are very excited to introduce these successful applications to the US market.”
Javier Perez Dolset, founder and CEO of Zed, commented, “We have seen significant growth of our interactive mobile communities and services across Europe and Asia, and we look forward to replicating that success in the US. The American market is ready for the next level of mobile entertainment, and we’ll work with our American partners and shareholders to deliver the skills, networks and marketing needed to help us extend and strengthen our activities in the US.”
