Madrid – 12 March 2012 – Zed, leading global player providing multi-platform marketing solutions and innovative value-added content and services for mobile devices, and Wmode, one of the principal companies of the mobile sector in technology and value added services, launched a new digital content storefront for Research In Motion® (RIM®). Through this new channel, managed by Wmode and supplied with content from Zed USA, users can browse through the latest ringtones and download them just like any other app from the BlackBerry App World™ storefront.
Spintones is known as the brand used by Wmode to offer ringtones for BlackBerry in the North American market and will expand to additional markets over the coming year. The collaboration with Zed USA, distributor of mobile services for content platforms for several US carriers and content distributor for many other operators, is an important strategic step to secure quality licensed content and a wide range of ringtones.
“Zed is focusing its 16 years of global experience in mobile content services on smartphone applications and services. With smartphones increasingly becoming the center of our connected lives, we have dedicated our R&D efforts to evolve traditional feature phone services into apps and new generation services”, states John Foster, President of Zed USA, where Zed has tech hubs in Miami, Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.
As with any other application on BlackBerry App World, users can pay in an easy and convenient way via carrier billing, credit card or PayPal. Furthermore, in-app billing and pay-per-download options are included as Wmode also operates with the BlackBerry Payment Service.
