A partnership providing a clear international approach to this new sectoral area.
Madrid, 9 July 2010 - The Association of Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications of Spain (AETIC) has created the sectoral area of Digital Content that will help encourage the growth of Spanish industry, boost its competitiveness and enhance synergies with other areas of activity. Likewise, Digital Content is set up with clear international inclinations and will work closely with ICEX and CDTI.
This new field within the structure of AETIC will be chaired by Ignacio Perez Dolset, co-president of Zed Group, and counts on a total of 35 partner companies, such as Ericsson, IBM, Google, Tecnocom, Telecor, Next Limit, Microgénesis, ESRI, Telefonica, Telvent and Zed.
Initially it will comprise of nine sub sectors: digital audiovisual, search engines and social networks, e-learning, digital music, digital entertainment, digital publishing, video games, mobile content infrastructure and services for content, which together in 2009 grossed a total of 9,151 million Euros in Spain, representing 0.9 percent of the GDP.
As a first course of action, in collaboration with the ICT Center part of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade the team that makes up Digital Contents is developing an in depth report to analyze this field of industry. It is also providing contributions to the ''eICT' Professional Profiling in Emerging Markets (PAFET VI) report, which includes Digital Content as a considerable emerging market.
The new area´s team of professionals is currently working on the design of the program which will be presented during the International Forum of Digital Content (FICOD), organized by Red.es taking place in November.
Thanks to the creation of Digital Content, AETIC covers comprehensively and differentially each and every sub sector that makes up the whole and is closely linked to business projects based on new technologies and R + D + i.
This new sectoral area fits solidly into the traditional AETIC structure, consisting of consumer electronics, electronics, professional electronics, telecommunications industries, operators / service providers, telecommunication and information technology.
AETIC represents more than 3,000 member companies, of which 300 are individual companies and the rest, different entities and business groups; all of which are related to electronics, information technology and telecommunications sectors.
